Ritter Dental To Be Known As Mediquip

Since acquiring Ritter Dental in 2018, Mediquip has continued the Ritter / Gritter tradition of supporting dental practices which dates back over 60 years. From early 2024, Ritter Dental will be known as Mediquip. Leon Gritter (pictured), grandson of the Ritter / Gritter Dental founder, has directed the dental business for 30 years and continues as head of dental at Mediquip.

Mediquip is a diversified healthcare business across equipment and servicing, backed by the strength of its Australia-wide team of field service engineers.

CEO Daniel Berndt said he believes the Mediquip name is synonymous with authenticity, support and tailored solutions.

“Mediquip is known for its after-sales support and long-term partnerships with healthcare providers across Australia and sales agencies and service agencies for leading manufacturers from around the world.”

Mediquip’s proprietary asset management system MAAS supports hundreds of thousands of medical assets all over Australia. This enables efficient management of equipment inventory, with detailed service and repair history, lifecycle analysis, and helps manage compliance with Quality Assurance and Australian Council of Healthcare Standards.

The Mediquip dental portfolio includes nitrous oxide Relative Analgesia equipment from Accutron, dental autoclaves and washers from Tuttnauer, surgical instruments by Helmut Zepf, compressors, suction and separators by Metasys, and more.

Mediquip will continue to supply and service equipment for family dental practices, public sector dental hospitals and specialist clinics − including paediatric dentists, maxillofacial surgeons, periodontists and endodontists − and supply spare parts to dental technicians. And Mediquip’s field service engineers offer servicing and validation for all brands of RA systems.

Mediquip will continue to support many Nitrous Oxide Relative Analgesia courses across Australia in 2024, using the popular Accutron systems.

Mediquip Still Scaling Up After 40 Years

Since starting as a service business for medical gas and resuscitation equipment in 1983, Mediquip’s service backbone has provided strong foundations for its growth into a diversified medical business across service, equipment and consumables. From a one-man band with a passion for great customer service and technical excellence, as Mediquip marks its 40th anniversary it has over 90 team members around Australia working across healthcare, simulation, service, dental – and its veterinary business MQ Vet.

Kurt Hogan – who was the company’s first full-time employee working for his dad Mike, the founder – said he believes the team’s commitment to providing great solutions for customers and making sure they’re left satisfied is what’s allowed Mediquip’s solid consistent growth over the decades.

“From the early days servicing south-east Queensland small businesses, we acquired service businesses around Australia and opened offices in other states, and now have field service engineers within two hours drive of 90% of Australia’s population,” Kurt said.

Glen Raines became a partner in Mediquip in 2004, bringing his wealth of experience in technical servicing, expanding the business into biomedical and growing its product portfolio in healthcare, simulation and veterinary.

“There were a lot of companies importing medical equipment but they didn’t know how to service and maintain it. So around 2007 we started securing our own agencies for leading manufacturers from around the world.

“With our service base came sales – people trust people who service their equipment and they look to them for advice. And Mediquip is there for follow up, committed to sorting out issues and for support and advice,” Glen said.

Mediquip now has a very diverse portfolio, with particular strengths in CSSD / sterilisation, medical gas equipment and consumables, gas control and engineering, nitrous oxide sedation, medical lighting and simulation.

CEO Daniel Berndt, who joined Mediquip around 18 months ago, said as the company looks forward to accelerated growth, it will continue to be known for authenticity and as a solutions provider.

“As we grow our team and introduce more technology-led products, we’re committed to prioritising relationship and technical support,” said Dan.

“We’ll be scaling our business to support more customers with more solutions and are motivated to help support our healthcare partners to achieve greater efficiencies and better clinical outcomes, and to provide excellent after-sales support.”

Platinum Biomedical To Be Known As Mediquip

Further to our announcement in June 2022 about leading West Australian provider of biomedical servicing Platinum Biomedical partnering with one of Australia’s leading servicing providers Mediquip, a decision has been made to transition the Platinum brand and systems over to Mediquip, with full effect from 1 July 2023.

Same great West Australian team led by Mark Higgins, same strong commitment to prompt local coverage, still with ISO9001 accreditation – with enhanced services and access to an even stronger team.

Over the past year we’ve secured bigger, better premises in Osborne Park and worked closely with the Mediquip team across Australia to strengthen our West Australian distribution and service capabilities.

Mediquip started in Brisbane in 1983, providing servicing and repairs for medical equipment and our highly qualified technical team and service department remain our core. Over time, through organic growth and acquisitions, Mediquip has become an Australia-wide diversified medical business, across equipment and servicing.

With offices around Australia, what sets Mediquip apart is the breadth of solutions we provide, the depth of our technical expertise and network of technicians within 2 hours drive of 90% of Australia’s population.

Some things may look a little different for West Australian customers as a result of the change − like our proposals, invoices, and online asset management system.

Some West Australian companies are already dealing with Mediquip and have a Mediquip ID.

Existing Platinum Biomedical customers will have their account details and payment terms rolled across to Mediquip. They will need to note our updated entity name, ABN and bank account details.

New contact details, including for service requests. From June 1,  please phone or email requests:
